Wash the lentils thoroughly and cook them in a pressure cooker with turmeric and water until soft.
Heat a pan and add a little oil or ghee.
Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add garlic and tomatoes, cook until soft and well blended.
Pour the cooked dal into the pan and mix well.
Add salt, black pepper, and adjust consistency with water if needed.
Simmer for 5–7 minutes to enhance flavors.
Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves (optional).
