Classic American Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft and chewy in the center with lightly crisp edges and plenty of melted chocolate chips. They are easy to make and perfect for dessert, tea-time, or a quick sweet treat.
Cream softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla extract, then mix well.
Combine flour and baking soda in a separate bowl.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Scoop dough onto a lined baking tray, leaving space between each cookie.
Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden. Cool before serving.
