Chinese custard tarts

 Chinese Custard Tarts, also known as egg tarts, are a popular Cantonese dessert featuring a flaky, buttery crust filled with smooth and creamy egg custard. Commonly served in dim sum restaurants, these tarts have a delicate sweetness and silky texture, making them a favorite treat for all ages. 

Cooking Method

 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). 
  2.  Prepare tart shells using shortcrust or puff pastry and place them in a muffin tray. 
  3.  In a bowl, whisk eggs and sugar until smooth (avoid foam). 
  4.  Warm milk slightly and mix it with the egg mixture. 
  5.  Add vanilla extract and stir gently. 
  6.  Strain the custard mixture to ensure a silky texture. 
  7.  Pour the custard into tart shells (about 80% full). 
  8.  Bake for 20–25 minutes until the custard is set and slightly golden. 
  9.  Let cool slightly before serving.
